Hello and welcome!

Design Hustle is a design practice and creative consultancy based in the west of Ireland. Working mainly with small to medium sized brands in the food business, I use strategic design thinking to improve the customer experience, and as a result, the bottom line. I particularly enjoy working with independent, owner-run businesses who know and love their product.

My formal training in art and design, combined with experience in the food service industry, equips me with a unique set of skills suited to working with businesses in the food and hospitality sectors.

Take a look around some of the projects I’ve completed over the last ten years. You will also find a page called ‘side hustles’. These side projects, although not strictly-speaking commercial design projects, form a huge part of my creative practice; the common theme throughout being placemaking and the creation of memorable experiences.

Background

My experience in food and hospitality began at a young age. Growing up in hotels and restuarants I was constantly around and involved in the growing, prepping, cooking & serving of food. For many years after, working in bars, cafes & restaurants in Ireland and abroad gave me a great understanding of the industry.

On the more creative side, it was art college (AIDT) originally, followed later by courses in interior design (Limperts Academy) and CAD (Dublin Institute of Design). My first job in architecture was in the Celtic Tiger years, working for Grainne Weber designing hotels, bars & restaurants in Ireland and the UK. When the recession took hold I retrned to college to do a four year degree in architecture (at CCAE, the school of architecture co-run by CIT & UCC).

These qualifications, along with extensive work and life experience since, form the foundations of my creative practice.

If you think you would like to work with me, drop me a line and lets talk.
